What we do
Motus is a school of movement, based in Auckland, New Zealand, run by Ivan Essin and Mattaes Chapman
We teach those who want to unlock their potential, to develop a better understanding of the human body through the use of a generalised movement system including calisthenics, hand balancing, ground movement, prehab, mobility, acrobatics the list goes on.
In classes, small groups and one on one we work to build adaptable and resilient bodies with aware and open minds. We teach absolute beginners to advanced practitioners.

Yes! We are one of the few places in Auckland, New Zealand that teaches basic calisthenics and handstands, mobility etc and know how to organise it all together into a coherent and easy to understand practice.
It might be hard to begin with but if you take your time you will build a much more resilient, smart and skillfull body.

Comfortable clothes that you can move in. Most of our members choose to go without shoes but that is just a matter of preference

This simply means that we are focused on using the body as a whole rather than specialized gym movement. Using things like calisthenics, ground movement and handstands we build a much more adaptable body with strong connectivity, better organisation. We look look to improve how you move rather than which muscles we can build i.e learn to drive the car better before you go and put a v12 engine on it.

Absolutely, you could either go to one of our specialized classes or get one on one training. Both of us have ample experience in teaching all of the specialized skills involved.
